One of the wilayat of Al Buraimi Governorate, located in the southern part of the governorate, its administrative level was upgraded to a state by Royal Decree No. (108/2006)
The population of the state is about (1,364) people, according to the statistics of the National Center for Statistics and Information for the month of January 2024.
It is predominantly desert and characterized by its golden sand dunes. The Wilayat has a number of forts, towers and archaeological sites and is an active tourist destination during the winter season, especially for lovers of trekking, camping and exploration in sandy areas. An attraction is also the craft industries, including the textile industry, in addition to livestock breeding and purebred Arab camel races. There are a number of food security projects in the state, including Mazoon Dairy Project and the Million Palm Project (Al-Wagan Project).
