Al Buraimi Governorate was officially established through Royal Decree No. 108/2006. It comprises three wilayats: Al Buraimi, Mahdha, and Al Sunainah, with Al Buraimi designated as the administrative center of the governorate.
Additionally, the governorate has historically served as a crossroads for trade routes in the southeastern Arabian Peninsula. Its strategic location in the northwestern part of Oman has established it as a vital hub for commerce and development.
