The “Al Buraimi Winter” activities commenced yesterday evening in the Wilayat of Al Sunaynah, Al Buraimi Governorate. Organized by Al Buraimi Governorate at Al Sunaynah Public Park, the event will continue until 24 October, featuring a diverse program of heritage, recreational, and community activities designed for various age groups.Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Farsi from the Events and Awareness Department at Al Buraimi Municipality said that the event aims to stimulate tourism activity, strengthen community and economic engagement in the Wilayat of Al Sunaynah, and showcase its authentic heritage through programs combining Omani arts and recreational activities, while providing a space for residents and visitors to meet and enjoy the event.He added that the event places particular emphasis on supporting productive families by allocating dedicated outlets for them to showcase and market their products. Small and medium enterprises are also participating through the food and accompanying activities section, enabling them to reach a wider range of visitors and strengthening their involvement in events held across the governorate.The “Al Buraimi Winter” program features artistic performances, poetry evenings, traditional folk arts, and competitions, in addition to a dedicated children’s entertainment area offering games, activities, and various programs designed to cater to families and enrich the visitor experience.The program will also feature a camel race on Friday morning for the Fatameen, Hagaig, and Lagaya categories. The race is organized by Al Buraimi Governorate in cooperation with the Oman Camel Racing Federation at the camel racing track in the Wilayat of Al Sunaynah, under the patronage of His Excellency the Wali of Al Sunaynah. The competition will comprise ten rounds, with cash prizes awarded to the winners, in addition to swords and golden khanjars for first-place winners in the trophy rounds. The race celebrates Oman’s authentic heritage and seeks to strengthen the status of camel racing among younger generations.Holding “Al Buraimi Winter” in the Wilayat of Al Sunaynah reflects Al Buraimi Governorate’s commitment to diversifying events and distributing them across its wilayats, while strengthening integration between tourism, heritage, and community activities and expanding opportunities for productive families and small and medium enterprises to participate in the governorate’s economic activity.
