The accompanying events of the “Urban October 2025” program began this morning in Al Buraimi Governorate. The program is organized by the Directorate General of Housing and Urban Planning in the governorate under the theme “Sustainable Cities for People,” and will run from 20 to 22 October. The events include an exhibition featuring more than 23 booths from participating government and private entities, showcasing their key initiatives and programs related to the theme of the event. The program also features a scientific forum presenting more than 20 specialized working papers in the fields of urban planning and urban sustainability, delivered by experts from academic and educational institutions. In addition, a hackathon will be held on the sidelines of the program, focusing on innovative solutions in energy and urban sustainability in mosque design. The hackathon is organized in partnership between the Directorate General of Housing and Urban Planning in Al Buraimi Governorate and the Department of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, with the participation of more than 18 teams. The program also includes various competitions and accompanying activities running throughout the event days. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Bartmani, Director General of the Directorate General of Housing and Urban Planning in Al Buraimi Governorate, explained that the event aims to highlight the key pillars of urban planning pursued by the Ministry, derived from the four pillars of “Urban October”: Innovation in Urban Development, Green Cities, Cities We Build Together, and Resilient Cities. He emphasized that organizing such events comes within the Ministry’s efforts to raise community awareness on issues of urban planning and sustainability, and to strengthen partnerships among specialists, students, and the community—contributing to the development of more sustainable cities. The event was held under the patronage of Honorable Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed bin Mashari Al-Shamsi, Member of the State Council, and attended by several members of the Shura Council, municipal council members, and a number of directors from government and private institutions.
