His Excellency Sayyid Dr. Hamad bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi, patronized this morning in Mahdah Wilayat the launch of the Mining Introductory Exhibition, held under the slogan “From Oman’s Rocks… We Build the Future.” The exhibition is organized by the Office of the Wali of Mahdah in cooperation with the Oman Chromite Company.
Held at the Grand Hall of the Omani Women’s Association in Mahdah, the exhibition aims to highlight the promising mining opportunities in the Wilayat and to raise awareness of the sector’s role in supporting the economy and achieving sustainable development.
In this context, His Excellency Sheikh Saif bin Abdullah Al Maamari, Wali of Mahdah, stated that organizing this exhibition comes as part of ongoing efforts to introduce the community and investors to the Wilayat’s available potentials and to strengthen partnerships with relevant entities in support of the mining sector. He noted that the event serves as an important platform to showcase investment opportunities and value-added fields associated with mineral resources. The exhibition features ten main pavilions that introduce visitors to various aspects of the mining sector in the Sultanate. These include an introductory pavilion for the Oman Chromite Company, presenting its vision and future plans; a Geology of Oman pavilion displaying geological maps and rock samples; Geophysics and Remote Sensing pavilions showcasing the latest technologies used in mineral surveying and evaluation; as well as visual and presentation displays that help simplify scientific concepts related to mineral resources. The exhibition also highlights stages of fieldwork in the mining sector through an Exploration Operations pavilion, in addition to a pavilion of the Omani Geological Society, which explains the role of geologists in this vital industry. The Mining Operations and Chromite Ore pavilion presents images and real samples from concession sites and illustrates the multiple industrial uses of chromite, including in stainless steel, pigments, and alloys. The Investment Opportunities and Local Services pavilion showcases the contracts and services generated by exploration activities for the private sector and entrepreneurs, including value-added project opportunities linked to mineral resources. Meanwhile, the Human Resources pavilion introduces potential job opportunities in the event mining operations commence, the skills required for this vital sector, and plans aimed at preparing qualified national cadres.
