Al Buraimi Governorate was affected by the weather condition resulting from Al Masarrat depression, which brought rainfall of varying intensity, ranging from moderate to heavy, accompanied by active flow in wadis and valleys. This resulted in several impacts on infrastructure and both public and private properties.Wilayat Mahdha recorded a noticeable rise in wadi water levels due to its geographical nature, which led to damage to some roads and private properties. Meanwhile, Wilayat Al Buraimi witnessed water flows in several vital locations, requiring intervention by specialized teams to reopen roads and remove debris.The concerned authorities responded to the situation from its onset by activating emergency plans. Municipal teams and relevant entities carried out water drainage, debris removal, and road cleaning operations, in addition to rehabilitating affected sites and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic. The Royal Oman Police also secured roads and affected areas, regulated traffic movement, and ensured public safety while facilitating the work of field teams.As part of monitoring the developments of the weather condition, His Excellency Sayyid Dr. Hamad bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi, reviewed the impacts during a field visit to the wilayats of Al Buraimi and Mahdha to assess and evaluate the damages on-site.Accompanying him during the visit were a number of Excellencies, including the Chairman of the Authority for Projects, Tenders, and Local Content, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Water Resources, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Transport, in addition to the Walis of Al Buraimi and Mahdha, the Commander of the Royal Oman Police in the governorate, directors general, and several officials from the concerned entities.The officials reviewed the affected sites, where damages were assessed, urgent intervention priorities were identified, and appropriate solutions were developed. These included enhancing water drainage efficiency in certain areas and studying the implementation of preventive projects to reduce the impact of similar weather conditions in the future.His Excellency the Governor of Al Buraimi emphasized the importance of integrated efforts among various entities and strengthening readiness to handle weather conditions, contributing to minimizing their impacts and protecting lives and property.
