The fourth meeting of the Municipal Council for the year 2026 was held this morning at the Office of the Wali of Wilayat Mahdhah, chaired by His Excellency Sayyid Dr. Hamad bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi and Chairman of the Council, in the presence of the council members.The meeting commenced with an opening speech delivered by His Excellency the Chairman of the Council, during which he welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of the meeting in discussing a number of service and development-related topics. He highlighted the ongoing efforts taking place across the governorate to strengthen infrastructure and improve the level of services, in addition to following up on the outcomes of official meetings and visits related to supporting economic and service sectors.The Roads Department in Al Buraimi Governorate reviewed the efforts undertaken in the maintenance and rehabilitation of roads in coordination with the relevant authorities, particularly in areas affected by weather conditions. Focus was placed on the works carried out in the Masarrat depression area, which included addressing damages, improving road efficiency, and enhancing traffic safety standards.The council also explained that a specialized company had been contracted to maintain internal roads across the governorate, with the aim of ensuring sustainable maintenance and improving the efficiency of the road network, in addition to implementing rapid-response works for emergency cases. The presentation also addressed the key field challenges facing maintenance operations, especially during and after weather disturbances, including water accumulation and the impact on certain roads, as well as the need for sustainable engineering solutions.The council discussed committee reports and responses received from the concerned authorities, which included reports from the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee, the Social Affairs Committee, and the Governorate Development Committee, in addition to responses related to several service-related topics. Among these was a review of Nama’s response regarding electricity lines and stations in Al Buraimi Governorate, as well as matters related to developing and improving the efficiency of the electricity network to meet current and future needs.The council also discussed several infrastructure-related matters, including the rehabilitation of the Mahdhah–Humaidah Road and the Al Khatwa Bridge project in Wilayat Mahdhah, given their importance in enhancing traffic flow and improving connectivity between vital locations.At the conclusion of the meeting, the council issued several recommendations, including emphasizing the continuation of efforts to maintain and rehabilitate roads, studying the construction of protective barriers for culverts in areas affected by valley flows, and implementing sustainable solutions to address water accumulation, in a manner that enhances infrastructure quality and meets community aspirations.
