The Al Buraimi Governorate Camel Racing Championship (Al Fatameen Category), organized by Al Buraimi Governorate in cooperation with the Oman Camel Racing Federation, concluded at the camel racing track in Wilayat Al Buraimi under the patronage of His Excellency Rashid bin Saeed Al Kalbani, Wali of Al Buraimi, and in the presence of several dignitaries, sheikhs, notables, members of the Municipal Council, members of the Board of Directors of the Oman Camel Racing Federation, members of the Camel Committee in Wilayat Al Buraimi, as well as officials from government and private entities.The championship featured eight rounds with the participation of 156 camels from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, amid a competitive atmosphere that reflected the growing interest in camel racing and the strong participation of camel owners and trainers in this authentic heritage event.The race rounds were dedicated to the Al Fatameen category over a distance of 1.5 kilometres, including six open rounds in addition to two trophy rounds for the Bakar and Qaadan (Al Suoub) categories. The competition witnessed strong participation from camel owners and trainers from across the Sultanate of Oman, with the results as follows:In the Al Suoub Trophy Round for the Bakar category, the camel “Dammar,” owned by Nasser bin Hamad Saif Al Khamisi, secured first place, while “Al Shababi,” owned by Salem bin Saeed Salem Al Owaisi, claimed the title in the Qaadan (Al Suoub) round.In the local participants’ rounds, “Al Sayiha,” owned by Saeed bin Al Abd Khwaidem Al Owaisi, won first place in the opening round, while “Khuraimah,” owned by Saleem bin Saeed Saleh Al Zarai, secured first place in the second round.In the open cash prize rounds, “Al Shahiniyah,” owned by Mohammed bin Dawood Suleiman Al Tabai, won first place in the third round, followed by “Shuroot,” owned by Mohammed bin Saif Faleh Al Shamsi, who secured first place in the fourth round, while “Shaheen,” owned by Yahya bin Abdullah Khalid Al Balushi, claimed first place in the fifth round.“Al Shahiniyah,” owned by Mohammed bin Dawood Suleiman Al Tabai, was crowned with the Governorate Sword, in addition to a vehicle and a cash prize, while “Shaheen,” owned by Hamad bin Dawood Suleiman Al Tabai, received the Governorate Dagger along with a vehicle and a cash prize.At the conclusion of the championship, His Excellency Rashid bin Saeed Al Kalbani, Wali of Al Buraimi, honoured the winners of the various rounds, as well as the supporting and participating entities, in appreciation of their contributions to the success of the event.The organization of the championship comes as part of Al Buraimi Governorate’s commitment to preserving authentic Omani heritage and promoting camel racing as one of the most prominent traditional sports associated with national identity, thereby contributing to safeguarding this cultural legacy and strengthening its presence within the community.
