Al Buraimi Governorate, in cooperation with the Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority, organized a workshop this morning at the Knowledge Hall of the University of Buraimi entitled “Transferring Local Content Concepts to Companies Operating in the Governorate.” The workshop brought together a number of specialists from the governorate and representatives of companies implementing development projects, as part of the governorate’s efforts to maximize the economic opportunities generated by development projects and support sustainable economic growth.The workshop aims to enhance the understanding of local content concepts and implementation mechanisms among companies operating in the governorate. The two-day program includes field visits on the second day to a number of development projects in the governorate, allowing participants to observe practical experiences and local content applications firsthand.The workshop commenced with a speech delivered by Mr. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Shuhi, Director General of Administrative and Financial Affairs at Al Buraimi Governorate, who emphasized the importance of strengthening local content concepts among companies operating in the governorate. He noted that this would contribute to maximizing the utilization of locally available resources and services and enhancing the economic impact of development projects.The workshop was presented by Qabas bin Saeed bin Majid Al-Balushi, Ammar bin Saleem bin Hamad Al-Hashmi, and Majid bin Khamis bin Saeed Al-Abri from the Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority. They reviewed the concepts of local content, its key pillars, and mechanisms for its implementation in projects, in addition to showcasing successful models and experiences. The workshop also featured an interactive discussion session during which the speakers addressed participants’ questions and discussed key challenges and opportunities related to strengthening local content practices.The workshop focused on several themes related to enhancing local content, including support for small and medium-sized enterprises in development projects, localization of supply chains, development of national talent, and the transfer of knowledge and modern technologies.
