As part of the 2026 Governorates Development Programme, Al Buraimi Governorate is witnessing significant development momentum through a package of strategic projects valued at more than OMR 6.02 million, distributed across the wilayats of Al Buraimi, Mahdhah, and Al Sunainah. The programme reflects the governorate’s commitment to developing infrastructure, enhancing public facilities, and expanding tourism destinations. These projects are expected to create added value for the governorate by improving the urban landscape, enhancing the quality of public services, strengthening investment and tourism attractiveness, and providing higher-quality facilities that meet the needs of the community. In Wilayat Al Buraimi, several flagship projects are being implemented to support economic activity and stimulate the tourism sector. Among them is the Phase Two development of the Artificial Lake Project, valued at OMR 1.8 million. The project represents one of the governorate’s landmark recreational developments and aims to complete an integrated family-oriented tourism destination featuring service roads, parking areas, a lakeside park, fountains, walkways, shaded seating areas, and other public amenities, thereby enhancing Al Buraimi’s appeal as a tourism and investment destination. The programme also includes Phase Two of the Al Buraimi Oasis development project, with a budget of OMR 300,000. The works include upgrading the surrounding areas, introducing landscaping and service facilities to improve the urban environment, rehabilitating the Municipal Market, installing directional signage, constructing a bridge canopy, and providing supporting facilities to enhance both the site's quality and visitors’ experience. In addition, Phase Two of the Kiosk Site Development Project, valued at OMR 100,000, will organize commercial activities within a more attractive and well-planned environment while improving the site's appearance and operational efficiency. To enhance government services, Al Buraimi Municipality is implementing the One-Stop Service Centre Project at a cost of OMR 80,000, transforming the existing "Injaz" service hall into an integrated customer service centre as part of the municipalities’ digital transformation programme, with the aim of improving customer experience and service efficiency. Road infrastructure forms a key pillar of the programme, with OMR 1 million allocated for paving internal roads in industrial zones and another OMR 1 million for paving roads within commercial areas. These projects will improve accessibility, traffic flow, and the investment readiness of both industrial and commercial districts. In Wilayat Mahdhah, several projects are being implemented to improve the urban environment and develop community and recreational facilities. These include the Mahdhah Entrance Development Project, valued at OMR 100,000, featuring landscaping and aesthetic enhancements, as well as the construction of a Traditional Market and the development of a Winter Camping Area, with a combined cost of OMR 400,000, creating an integrated destination offering commercial, recreational, and public service facilities for residents and visitors. Other projects include the supply and installation of LED street lighting in Mahdhah town centre and Al Rawdah at a total cost of OMR 110,000, improving energy efficiency, visual quality, and public safety. A Children’s Playground will also be constructed in Wadi Al Hiyoul, at a cost of OMR 120,000, providing a safe and integrated recreational space for families and children. In Wilayat Al Sunainah, several community-focused projects are underway, including the construction of a Sports Walkway valued at OMR 120,000 across an area of approximately 11,718 square metres. The facility will include shaded seating areas, children's play spaces, landscaping, and supporting amenities. The programme also includes the development of Al Sunainah Park at the wilayat entrance, costing OMR 80,000, through extensive landscaping, green spaces, walkways, and a central fountain, enhancing the area's visual identity and urban character. To support the agricultural sector, the governorate is implementing the design and paving of roads leading to food security projects in Wilayat Al Sunainah, with a budget of OMR 630,000, improving access to agricultural production sites and strengthening infrastructure that supports food security and the sustainability of this vital sector. The governorate’s development plan also includes several cross-governorate initiatives, including road safety improvements through road markings, upgraded traffic signs, and speed calming measures at a cost of OMR 100,000, enhancement of tourism sites with essential services costing OMR 40,000, and consultancy and architectural studies for future projects, including the development of the heritage district of Old Saara, valued at OMR 40,000, further strengthening the governorate’s competitiveness and economic position.
