The Municipal Council of Al Buraimi Governorate, during its sixth meeting for 2026, discussed a number of service and development topics concerning the governorate’s various wilayats. The meeting was held as part of the council’s ongoing efforts to follow up on citizens’ needs and enhance the level of services and infrastructure. It was chaired by His Excellency Sayyid Dr. Hamad bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi and Chairman of the Council, in the presence of council members.The council began the meeting by reviewing the completion rates of several service and development projects currently being implemented across the governorate’s wilayats. His Excellency the Governor emphasized the importance of strengthening direct communication with the community and identifying its needs and observations in a manner that contributes to improving services and enhancing their quality.The meeting also featured a visual presentation by the Vocational College, highlighting its training programmes and initiatives aimed at developing skills and empowering community members. The college expressed its readiness to host part of the upcoming batches of the “Irada” initiative, in coordination with the Municipal Council of Al Buraimi Governorate, by utilizing its training facilities to support the implementation of training programmes.The council also hosted the company contracted to carry out road maintenance works in the governorate for a period of five years. During the meeting, the latest updates on the maintenance of roads affected by weather conditions were reviewed, including completion rates and field works carried out, as well as the intensified efforts to accelerate implementation. Priority is being given to the most critical and affected areas, reflecting a continued commitment to upgrading infrastructure and enhancing the efficiency of the road network in line with development priorities and community needs.The council reviewed a visual presentation by Nama Water Services, which highlighted the company’s efforts to enhance the quality of drinking water in Al Buraimi Governorate, as well as its continuous monitoring mechanisms to ensure the reliability and sustainability of water supplies.The council also reviewed a presentation by the Directorate of Culture, Sports and Youth, covering the key programmes and initiatives scheduled for implementation in 2026 to support cultural, sports, and youth activities in the governorate. It also discussed several development proposals aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing public services, including a proposal to establish a tourism project in Al Khatwa area in Wilayat Mahdhah.The council further hosted Bin Salman Company, which is responsible for managing and leasing the Al Buraimi Oasis project. The company reviewed the project’s performance indicators and latest updates, confirming positive indicators that reflect growing demand and increased confidence in its investment feasibility. So far, 9 out of 29 units have been leased, with expectations of higher leasing activity during the coming period. The company also noted growing interest from international brands, which strengthens Al Buraimi Oasis as a promising investment and commercial destination that contributes to stimulating economic activity in the governorate.The council also reviewed the minutes of specialized committees and their recommendations and observations, particularly the minutes of the Joint Health and Environmental Affairs Committee and the Governorate Development Committee.On the service side, the council discussed several topics related to local community needs, including a proposal to construct a pedestrian bridge in Wilayat Al Buraimi to connect two vital areas on both sides of the main road near Ali bin Saif Mosque, in order to improve traffic flow and enhance road safety. It also discussed the most suitable location for establishing a fish market in Wilayat Al Buraimi, reviewed the response regarding a proposal to construct a bridge or speed bump for pedestrian crossing in Wilayat Al Sunainah, and addressed the issue of stray camels and honeybee keepers in Wilayat Mahdhah, as part of efforts to enhance public safety and address service and community challenges.
