Al Buraimi Governorate is experiencing a remarkable investment boom and sustained economic growth, strengthening its position as an attractive destination for investors by capitalizing on its strategic location and rich natural and cultural heritage.This momentum is driven by a portfolio of development and strategic projects currently being implemented across the infrastructure, tourism, hospitality, and recreational sectors, reinforcing Al Buraimi’s position as a leading tourism destination and a promising economic hub in the Sultanate of Oman.His Excellency Sayyid Dr. Hamad bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi, stated that the total value of announced investments in projects across the governorate between 2019 and 2026 reached approximately OMR 13,850,301.His Excellency added that investment during 2025 amounted to approximately OMR 2.148 million, while investments recorded in the first quarter of the same year reached OMR 1.7 million, reflecting clear growth compared with previous years as the governorate continues to attract new projects under its long-term sustainable development plans.He explained that the governorate is implementing and developing several tourism projects and destinations that represent a significant addition to its tourism sector, most notably the Al Buraimi Oasis Project, which aims to provide an integrated recreational and tourism environment, and the Artificial Lake Project, which is emerging as a promising destination for family and leisure tourism.He further noted that the governorate is developing and rehabilitating several heritage and historical sites, foremost among them the Old Harat Hamasa Market Rehabilitation Project and proposals to establish a heritage village at the site. In addition, a number of natural and tourism attractions are being developed to diversify the tourism product and create new investment opportunities in the sector.His Excellency affirmed that these investments make a significant contribution to the local economy, extending beyond job creation to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), whose participation in investment projects has reached 89%, enhancing their competitiveness and increasing their contribution to the local economy.He added that these investments also stimulate commercial activity and overall economic growth by boosting local markets and increasing demand for goods and services.He noted that investment in tourism and service sectors, including projects such as Al Buraimi Oasis and tourism camps, opens new opportunities for diversifying income sources and attracting visitors, thereby strengthening the investment environment and encouraging further investment.His Excellency emphasized that making effective use of the governorate’s economic and tourism assets is a fundamental pillar of sustainable development, particularly with the introduction of a requirement, effective from 2026, for investors under new investment contracts to provide employment opportunities for Omani citizens. This measure strengthens the social impact of these investments and ensures they are more closely aligned with community needs.He also pointed out that, in the field of infrastructure, Al Buraimi Governorate has implemented numerous improvements in recent years that support the tourism sector and enhance the governorate’s attractiveness to visitors and investors. These include the development of internal road networks and roads linking the wilayats and border crossings, improvements to public facilities and services, the development of parks, public spaces, and tourist attractions, as well as enhanced street lighting and urban beautification, all of which have improved accessibility and elevated the overall visitor experience. Government entities are also working to strengthen partnerships with the private sector, provide investment-supporting infrastructure and services, and accelerate licensing and permit procedures through electronic platforms.His Excellency further explained that tourism plays a vital role in showcasing Al Buraimi Governorate’s cultural identity by highlighting its rich heritage, authentic Omani traditions and customs, reviving traditional crafts and industries, and promoting its historical and heritage landmarks.He noted that the governorate’s future vision is focused on consolidating its position as a dynamic economic and tourism hub by leveraging its strategic location connecting the GCC countries, strengthening its role as a key logistics and commercial gateway across sectors including logistics, tourism, food security, mining, and manufacturing industries.His Excellency concluded by stating that Al Buraimi Governorate is committed to developing tourism projects by capitalizing on its natural and heritage assets, thereby reinforcing its cultural identity, creating sustainable employment opportunities, and enhancing its competitiveness in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, while pursuing sustainable development that balances economic growth with the protection of the environment and natural resources.
