The Ministry of Information, in cooperation with Al Buraimi Governorate, organized an introductory meeting on the Executive Regulations of the Media Law at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry branch in the governorate, with the attendance of media professionals, representatives of government and private institutions, and those interested in media affairs.The meeting hosted Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Hinai, Director General of the Directorate General of Publications and Artistic Works at the Ministry of Information, who reviewed the main themes of the Executive Regulations of the Media Law and the key provisions and regulatory procedures included therein. He also addressed the objectives of the regulations and their role in organizing media work, enhancing professional practices, and keeping pace with developments in the media sector.Mr. Nasser bin Ahmed Al Rashdi, Director of the Media Licensing Department at the Ministry of Information, also delivered a presentation on media licensing under the Media Law and its Executive Regulations. He reviewed the procedural steps for licensing media activities, contributing to clarifying the regulations governing the practice of media activities in accordance with approved legal frameworks.The meeting highlighted the key updates introduced by the Executive Regulations, in addition to clarifying the roles and responsibilities of media institutions and practitioners. This contributes to establishing a media environment based on compliance with laws and regulations, enhancing the quality of media content, and supporting the development of the media sector in the Sultanate of Oman.The meeting included an interactive discussion during which the presenters answered participants’ questions, and views were exchanged on several aspects related to the implementation of the Executive Regulations. This contributes to raising legal awareness among media sector professionals and strengthening cooperation between the relevant entities to implement the provisions of the regulations and achieve their objectives.The meeting comes as part of the ongoing cooperation between Al Buraimi Governorate and the Ministry of Information to raise awareness of media legislation and introduce various segments of society and interested individuals to the latest legal and regulatory developments, supporting the advancement of the media sector and promoting its practices within legal and professional frameworks.
